Lunch 07/30/2022 (Not the monthly lunch ride)
Thinking of going South for lunch Saturday 07/30. Lower Bank Bar or Apron Café at Hammonton Airport or Sweetwater Casino.
People from up North could meet at Whiting WaWa (RT70/Rt539) and I'll show you a part of Jersey you might not have seen.

If you go tomorrow be sure to announce destination and time on this board. I'd like to join in too. (Den J.)

OK Apron Café at Hammonton Airport at High Noon 12PM

Sounds good Harry, thanks for the info. I have an errand earlier Saturday but plan to meet you at the Apron cafe.

My two sons and I took a breakfast ride around Hunterdon Cty to see how the V65 fared on a longer ride. 65 miles and 2:15 hours later it coughed once but otherwise ran fine. Other minor quirks are the "air balance tube" missing from the front forks so they're on the soft side with occasional bottoming and the transmission breather blowing a little oil (known problem and fix).

Good seeing you guys and having a little time for a BS session. We split up after lunch and all took our own ways home. A good reason to get the bike out and spend some time together.

Always thought Ossas were cool bikes. My friend had an Ossa Pioneer 250 and we would argue if his bike was better than a comparable Bultaco. Had a chance to ride it back to back with an Alpina and I think I'd give his bike the nod as I preferred its engine and handling. The one complaint he had was the fiberglass tail kept cracking.

I had a pioneer some years back. Very torquey motor. Back in their day finishing an enduro was more than half the battle and ossa were good at that. As you can see by what I rode to lunch I'm more a Husky guy and thats what I rode in enduros back then. I will ask around and see how the Jim Hollinder auction shook out.

Re: Lunch 07/30/2022 (Not the monthly lunch ride)
Whoever it was that thought using fiberglass on a dirt bike was a good idea must have figured out by now that, it wasn't. I had an AJS 250 Stormer MX bike in the early seventies. Great handler and awesome torque, however the flat out horsepower went to the Japanese bikes back then. Of course I'd pass them in the turns being able to throw the bike down and ride the berms at a much higher speed so I could always pass them on the outside.
But that fiberglass fuel tank was the dumbest idea of all. I must have patched that tank so many times that it had to weight three times as much as a similar size steel tank in the end. Now the dodgy Lucas ignition system, Amal carburetor and right hand shifter were challenges I had to fuss with on a regular basis. Eventually I had no troubles with the shifter, UNTIL I hopped on a friend's Suzuki or Yamaha and stalled the engine jamming down on the brake when I wanted to downshift going into a turn. Yikes.

I saw this one at Nesco Vintage dirtbike meet a couple of summers ago. I had forgotten those MX bikes came with no side stand back then.
