Re: How you doin' Harry?
Two weeks in today. Still a little pain (1/2 on scale of 10). Stopped pain meds. Everything seems
ok, going to orthopedic guy on Monday.
Looks like the Sporty is history, financially it's a wipe for me.
The R1200R is getting long of tooth so maybe a new traveling bike is due. the V85tt is on the short list, waiting for Bob Corfield to send me back his impressions after his trip out West.
As I approach fourscore years it might be time to reconsider my love for this sport, not disengage but reconfigure. I'll cross that bridge after all the pain stops.

Glad you're able to get off the pain killers. Used some for my back and they'll mess you up if on them too long.
I swore off bikes a few years ago after a really bad season full of near misses that really spooked me. Sold my bikes and bought this BMW Z3:

Then this happened early this year

Have long thought about a Morgan but they're crazy expensive:

Saw a couple of these BMW C1 scooters in Germany last year. They're actually crash rated well enough you don't need a helmet when riding:

Re: How you doin' Harry?
Check out the Vanderhall, a guy in town has one and I had a chance to take a close look. Fit and finish are first class and the drivetrain and suspension are made of all automotive components so replacements should be easy to find. Down side - no luggage space and it's not a motorcycle. Price is in the 24/40K range, right in there with top of the line motorcycles.

The 3 wheel cars are cool. I know Harry, no way in HELL would he be seen on that scooter with a roof.
Glad you're doing well. I'm only a half hour away. Call me if you need ANYTHING.

Re: How you doin' Harry?
My experiences with Harley Davidson have both ended with me laying on the ground in pain. I'm beginning to think that marque just doesn't work for me.
So as I sit here incapacitated as the result of a motorcycle accident what an I doing??
Looking for a new bike.
In deference to my age I have to consider the fact that cross continent blasts taking three or four days are likely out of the picture. That and my declining physical ability puts me in the market for a machine of less than 1,000cc and 100HP. Something I can trailer without being embarrassed, as I've become addicted to riding West of Denver.
Right now the V85tt Adventure is on the top of the list.
The Sporty is totalled and it looks like I can scrape up the rest, it will mean getting rid of the Beemer, which is a shame because that bike would do a Coast to Coast without breathing hard and it's not really worth much because of its age and miles.
So is anything new expected for the 2021 V85tt as I'll wait till after the first of the year to go looking. Naturally Jim Hamlin will be my first choice to go to.

Not sure what's in store for 2021. They will definitely produce different models using the new 850 engine, but not sure how the virus has affected production. If you go that route, Hamlin's for sure.
Harry, a good buddy of mine is selling his LOW mile Triumph Tiger 800. I posted something in the "For Sale" section. He just had a full service done, and the Givi saddle bags are brand new. Lots of other new stuff. Heated grips, Arrow exhaust. He's convinced he needs the 1200.
The bike is in Manahawkin. You've met the Dennis at Hot Diggity Dog. He was riding that retro green Yammie. I have some photos I can email you if interested? I'm sure he'll do better on the price - 1/2 the cost of a new V85.

Being Irish, I don't hold a grudge I nurture it. I didn't like them in 1962 and somehow it stuck. I know they're good bikes but I can't see throwing my leg over one.I

Physical Therapy, range of motion is back, next thing strength. I go to the orthopedic guy next week. 99% of pain is gone. Trying to get the courage to tell the wife I'm considering a new bike. Might need a few sips of that Irish Single Malt you guys dropped off.

Glad to hear you're healing up and not in pain anymore. I've been told that pushing a lawnmower is great conditioning for motorcycle riding. My wife said it so it must be true...

Don't spoil it Mike. Cathy probably bought him a bike already.

MGNOC-ME Rally Dates
Yes Nick, Galen had to change the date due to another event scheduled for this weekend. He was not able to update the announcement in time. I just spoke with him two days ago. Thanks for checking in.

How come you're posting rally info here instead of in the Events section?

BUT - that's a little much. Right now I'm trying to justify why a 77 year old man needs a new motorcycle when he has four in the garage.

egschade, my mentioning the Maine rally was germane to the preceding comment about non cancelled rallies this year.

As far as new bikes, yeah I look and read about them, but then I look at what I own and realize that I got all the bike segments I'm interested in "covered".
Take your time, get well, and you'll make the right decision, but you knew that
