Earthshaking news - literally!

How may of you felt the earthquake today? 4.8 centered in Whitehouse Station / Lebanon area. Just had a 4.0 aftershock almost next door in Bedminster. No damage to the house that I can tell.

Ok The Harry earthquake story:
I'm out sitting on a 5Gal bucket pulling weeds. All of a sudden, for no reason, I fall off the bucket, no big deal at this stage of my life it happens more and more. I continue attacking the weeds. My wife comes out and asks if something happened because the whole house shook like a truck hit it. I figured she saw me fall off the bucket, and was trying to be funny.

I often wonder what happens if your riding a bike and this happens.

Seems people walking, riding or driving didn't notice. I live about 35 miles north of the epicenter and my house did a dance like never before. But it only shook for a couple seconds as the major shock wave passed. But I went on my balcony and looked to see if there was a helicopter landing on my roof or something, and the roar from the back of the house...a NJ mountain top of shale, was incredible. I literally kept waiting to see a 747 or couple of helicopters emerge from behind the house. I knew then that it was an earthquake, and even guessed a high 4 or maybe a 5.....that year of majoring in Geology 100 years ago finally did something for me. We were watching TV....subwoofer system....and did not notice the 6:00pm 4.0 aftershock. One of my buddies lives 3 miles from the epicenter, in White House Station and I called him to see if he felt it....not knowing that he was right on top of it. He said he thought he was gonna die. He should probably avoid California.
