AMA Flat Track at New Egypt Speedway.
Rumor is that they will have two AMA flat races at New Egypt speedway one on July 21st and the other on September 15th. It will be short track but it's still a fun event and it's in our backyard. I hope this comes to fruition. The 2019 schedules are out but nothing shows on either date, which is strange because all the other weekends have races. I'll post in events when something is firmed up.
BTW: This must be an old picture because a Harley is in front.

Went to a couple flat track event years ago and remember it fondly. Lots of action in a relatively small area = good entertainment. Would really like to make one (or both) of these races if they happen.

Would prefer a day event. Unless the lighting is excellent it's hard to see what's happening. Regardless it could be a hoot.

Re: AMA Flat Track at New Egypt Speedway.
New Egypt Speedway has been around for a long time but has been updated over the years and they run a lot of events at night. I'm sure the lighting isn't an issue.
The issue is will it happen. It seems AMA wants to get Flat Track going in this area, the event at the Meadowlands was a financial success so that's a good thing.
A few years ago they had a short track on the AMA schedule at Bridgeport Speedway ( near Nick) but it never happened. The fact that these events aren't on the 2019 AMA Flat Track schedule makes this iffy.
At Meadowlands the first four bikes across the line at the main event were Indians - it must have been very quite in the Harley section.
Unfortunately, for me, Meadowlands is the same weekend as Barber.

Here's a link to the Flat track at the Meadowlands. As expected it looks like a great event and it's virtually 'around the corner'.
45 minutes long and worth every minute. Maybe not as exciting (maybe) as road racing but you can sit in the stands and see the whole race. Big bucket list for me is seeing a mile flat track, but this is in conflict with Barber Vintage Days which is also a great event.

Re: AMA Flat Track at New Egypt Speedway.
I e-mailed New Egypt Speedway and inquired about this, they responded with a few pictures of someone's schedule that shows Short Track on those dates at New Egypt Speedway. Good chance this isn't an AFT sanctioned race, downside would be no big names and even more important the newest machinery wouldn't be on the track. We'll have to wait and see what shakes out on this.
