If they could get the ergonomics and weight down around where the V7s are this could be very interesting.  I've always said that I thought 800/850 was the ideal size for an opposed twin MC engine.  The old T3 and Mark III LeMan twins ran like watches and had ample power.
I'd like to see more specs on the engine, the rest of it looks pretty straight forward ( no surprises).
Typical Italian, no rear view mirrors, reflectors or directional signals, they will likely throw some outlandishly ugly stuff on there just to make it legal. Smile

I have to say though it's really not my style, I don't dislike it. Maybe I actually even like it.

There are a ton of unanswered questions. They're CLAIMING this one is an air-cooled 80 hp smallblock, and some are suspecting that means a dual-plugged 4-valve head. Sadly it sounds like this might not even see the road until this time NEXT YEAR (fall 2018).

They are also claiming that a 1200+ cc water-cooled head "version" of this chassis or something else new will debut but that's still a year away from even being shown (probably Milan next year), never mind the road.

I'm totally on board with the concept but wish it were more Stornello and less Stelvio. The big headlight / blocky styling screams 1990. All they'd need to do is trim it in purple and fuchsia.

Put more traditional fenders and a V7 tank on it and I'm on board for the USD forks, dual-discs, and a little more go at the wrist.

That said, I wouldn't trade or sell my V7 because it's a "just right" size bike.

If they build it (unlikely) with a few mods it could be competition for the BMW GS line, The 1200 is just too heavy and tall, the 800GS is almost as heavy and just as tall.

Big problem as always (for people that travel) is the dealer network, or lack of.

Dogwalker (from the WG forum) is an insider, I THINK in Mandello or somewhere close and he's usually spot on when he gives us tips about model development. He claims this (or something similar) will be a production bike by next fall.

And by next fall that they will show a new 1200cc water cooled-heads/oil-cooled jugs motors. Presumably for this or a similar chassis.

But time will tell.

Just sayin --
Seeing as Guzzi has given their bikes names like The Stone (what were they thinking), I think a good name for this offering should be THE TURKEY.  Like the turkey it looks like it could survive anywhere, though not a speed demon it looks like it could get wherever it wanted to go, handsome in a certain kind of way (not a peacock), robust and pampering isn't required, would require a little extra preparation before it was put on the road (table).
And the colors are so similar.
